There are 15,000 child care providers in the areas worst hit by Superstorm Sandy. We are still assessing how many are still closed, how many will need repairs before they can open, how many may not be able to reopen. There are thousands of 

children whose lives have been disrupted, thousands of parents looking for alternative or temporary care, thousands of providers going weeks, maybe months without an income. Child care is an invaluable part of our infrastructure. Without child care parents can't work.
